The Coliseum, the Dave and Buster's-like entertainment complex slated to open on St. John's Chuch Road in Camp Hill, broke ground last Thursday, Mar. 23.
I wasn't able to attend the event or the following party, unfortunately, but it was reported to be a success with around 200 attendees and all local media outlets on-site to capture the event.
The Coliseum will be a two-story family entertainment venue featuring two restaurants, an ice cream shop and family-friendly activities including arcade games, billiards and bowling - plus a "one-of-a-kind" sports bar.
I'm definitely looking forward to this opening, scheduled for early 2007.
Press release follows.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Construction
Begins On Unique Family Entertainment Complex
(March 23, 2006) Camp Hill, PA – The Coliseum Entertainment Group breaks ground today on its 35,000 square-foot family entertainment complex in Cumberland County. The Coliseum will offer a one-stop destination for families, sports groups, social clubs, friends and neighbors to enjoy creative dining and state-of-the art gaming.
“We’ve wanted to take our families to a place like this, but it didn’t exist here – so, we’re building it,” says Patrick Myers, Coliseum Entertainment Group President and Chief Executive Officer. “We’re hoping to fill a void and give families a safe, fun place to have a great meal and play cool games,” says Myers.
The Coliseum will be central
Pennsylvania’s first cutting-edge entertainment and dining complex
for all ages. The two-story complex will include:
- World-class food: two restaurants with menus designed by the country’s top culinary experts
- MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream and Treatery – fresh, gourmet ice cream
- An ultra-modern arcade with high-end, realistic video games
- Central Pennsylvania’s premier billiards lounge
- Ultimate music/video bowling experience
- One-of-a-kind sports area with wall-to-wall large-screen plasma televisions

- (More surprises and “top secret” amenities!)
Detailed architectural drawings of The Coliseum are displayed at the building’s temporary office, located at 4610 Trindle Road. At the post-groundbreaking party, guests experienced a sampling of The Coliseum’s future fun -- they played high-end video games while enjoying The Coliseum’s surround sound experience.
“We love to see everyone having a good time! Whether you want to play a few games and have a great dinner with your family, or you want to meet up with friends for a drink and watch a ball game, there will be something for everyone,” says Jim Geedy, Coliseum Entertainment Group Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
The Coliseum was designed by
Dynamic Designs, Inc., Birmingham, Michigan. Local design work
was done by DK Architects, Inc., based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The complex is being built by ECI Construction, based in Dillsburg,
Pennsylvania. Construction is expected to be complete by early 2007.
The Coliseum is owned by Coliseum Entertainment Group, a Pennsylvania registered corporation comprised of private stockholders.

This sounds great! I'm looking forward to it too...
For some reason the exterior designs makes me think of what would happen if The Container Store and NAPA Auto Parts had a child... but I'm sure the inside will more than make up for that.
Anyway, great news. Rich better hope they don't have bubble hockey or the legacy of beatings will continue to the West Shore!

I'm very excited by this. It's not exactly up my alley, but it's nice to see something different, and it might be the ultimate off-par first date spot. Nice.
