Happy New Year! I hope that Santa was good to you and maybe, if you planned as I did, you spent this last week at home and not at the office. It wasn't a particularly productive week for me, but it was nice to be off.
My New Year's plans consist of a low key evening with fewer than a dozen close friends. We'll have champagne, and I'm bringing guacamole, so things look good. Rumor has it someone's bringing the Super Mario Bros for Wii, so moments may get a little competitive.
After tomorrow we'll be in 2010, and don't you worry - there will be plenty of year-ringing events that carry on into the next decade. Check 'em out after the jump.
- Alexis has a roundup of local NYE ongoings for tonight, featuring ABC, Dragonfly, HMAC, Bube's Brewery, Level 2, Championship and Felicita.
- Pennlive has the scoop on who's dropping what and where at midnight tonight.
- Red Crown Bowling also has a NYE special: "Adult Party" from 10:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. for $110, includes all-you-can-bowl, shoe rental, music, hot buffet, noisemakers, soda, chips, etc. for up to 6 people per lane.
- Cornerstone Coffeehouse is hosting a special NYE dinner with Executive Chef LaPorta for $90/person (includes tax and gratuity, BYOB).
- Funktion rings in the new year at Stock's on Second tonight from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
- On New Year's Day refuel (for good luck) with the traditional pork and sauerkraut. Try Flinchy's*, Garrason's* or Fenicci's.
- Flinchy's also kick-starts 2010 with 11 a.m. Bloody Marys followed by the annual Penguin Plunge (benefiting the Humane Society) on City Island ... something about good luck ... but it is for a good cause.
- Don't forget to renew your Maennerchor membership. You have until the end of February 2010. Stop in Saturday night for the Brave the Day reunion show!
- Feeling artistic this weekend? Check out Yellow Wall Gallery's call for entries.
- Next week, Spring Awakening comes to Hershey. You can win tickets here - or, stop into Houlihans on Sunday for another chance to win.
