It's festival season, my friends, and central Pennsylvania has no less than three events beginning this weekend.
On Saturday, in downtown Harrisburg, Ceoltas Irish Pub kicks off the first annual Guinness Jazz and Blues Festival. Second Street will shut down for the event from Pine St. to South St. from noon to 11 p.m., and the Guinness Rig will hog the road. After 11 p.m., festivities continue inside of Ceoltas with more live music. This is sure to be a hot choice for fun this weekend.
The event benefits the local Lo Kiel Society and its charities.
Local and regional musicians will perform beginning at noon. The event features the Stan Middleton Band, Jazz Me, Mark Huber Trio, Amaryllis Santiago, Matrixx s/Trixie, Dave Wilson Quartest, Matt Monticchio, Big Tubba Mista, Mike Dugan and the Blue Mission and Whiskey Dickens.
Tickets are just $2. Irish beers and food are for sale. For information, www.ceoltasirishpub.com
I wrote a post about a great trip to Hersheypark I took opening weekend with a handful of friends, but it was lost. Computer - 1; Sara - 0.
We ate at Fuddruckers first, which I LOVE, on a perfect, cloudless Sunday. Temps were in the high 60s - not too hot, not too cold. Opening weekend of the park wasn't packed, and we only waited in short lines for the really good rides like the Great Bear and Storm Runner.
We had a blast of a day - skipping around the park like young kids, enjoying the ducks and carp like old folks and whipping around, laughing so hard on the rides. I'm really looking forward to the opening of the waterpark, The Boardwalk, on May 25. I'm hoping to make it to the press opening on the 22nd, which I will (hopefully) consequently blog about.
The Coliseum, the Dave and Buster's-like entertainment complex slated to open on St. John's Chuch Road in Camp Hill, broke ground last Thursday, Mar. 23.
Noma reopens tomorrow night ... Remixed - get your VIP card here for no cover charge ever.
On the west shore, a Dave & Buster's-esque is slated for Fall 2006 as The Coliseum.
This hasn't gotten much pub so far, so I wanted to post about it - great bands, even better cause. Steelers have a bye tomorrow, so unless you like some other team, you don't have an excuse (plus, there are TVs at Dorado).
