Pending another possible "Storm of the Century," this weekend is full of fun-bearing promise. For instance, Saturday night (omgshe'sgoingtopromotethisBlackmanMMAfightagain), Steve Blackman MMA presents the second Pennsylvania Fighting Championship at the Zembo Shrine. Buy your tickets here.

Sunday, of course, is the Super Bowl. It's obviously all about the commercials since the Steelers aren't in it, and I can't make you any promises I'll even remember to watch. However, regardless, many local pubs and taverns will feature drink specials and more wings than you'd care to remember the next day.

What am I up to? If it snows, it's a movie marathon - popcorn required. I'll be checking out the new Gas Station Pub while the fiance is at the Eastern Sports & Outdoors Show, and pretending I'm at the Chocolate Dinner Extraordinaire to kick off Chocolate-Covered February.

Good morning, and welcome to the Weekend Roundup. I'm busy downloading all of Amazon.com's free Christmas MP3s and figuring out the few things left on my Christmas shopping list.

This weekend, I'm attending a friend's Christmas Threw-Up Party, an annual girl-fest with too much food, wine and lots of cheer (plus a fun gift exchange). It's become a highlight of the season we all look forward to. Can't wait! Aside from that - it's the final gift purchases, Christmas cards and, of course, housecleaning. Ah, the glamorous life.

Weekend roundup 9/24

What is with this humidity in late September? Ugh.

Tonight I will be completely preoccupied with the 2-hour season premiere of Grey's Anatomy - that doesn't allow for any other extracurricular activities beyond walking the dog. Tomorrow night, the Hilton hosts a Greek-themed wine dinner. By Saturday, I'm looking at bachelorette party numero tres of the season, and come Sunday, I'll be hoping my team performs better than last week.

Weekend roundup 7/30

I'll begin with a few announcements. As of this weekend (fingers crossed!), The Boyfriend and I will be first-time homeowners. We're stressed but excited - and I'll try to not let blogging fall through the cracks as we get moved in. Also, I'd like to throw out a Happy Birthday to my dad (Happy Birthday, Dad!) and a Congrats! to two friends who just decided to tie the knot (you know who you are). I'm very much looking forward to tonight's dinner at Cedars in Camp Hill - followed by a weekend of moving and painting and the like. For a more exciting time, check out the following:

• Tonight, Garrason's kicks off its new "Rib Night" every Thursday through the Super Bowl (how's that for longevity?). Get a full rack, slaw, fries and a salad for just $15.95.
• Level 2 brings back "Flashback Thursdays" with dance music from the 70s, 80s and 90s from 9 p.m. to close. Absolute-brand cocktails are just $4 all night.
• Fridays at Lancaster Brewing Co. Harrisburg - drafts are $2.50 all night long.
• Stop into Legends before 9:30 p.m. Friday to register to win a trip for 2 to the Aug. 2 Pennsylvania 500 in the Poconos.

Super Bowl Events

OMG IT'S SUPER BOWL WEEKEND. What 'up fellow Steelers fans? Where are you watching the game? I ordered some take-out wings from Garrason's and two 2-foot subs from South Philly Hoagies to take to a party. You guys know I can't watch in a bar when my team's playing. Here are some other suggestions on what to do and where to go:

• If you know owner Matt Flinchbaugh, you'll be as surprised as I was to see that Flinchy's has transformed to STEELERS COUNTRY this weekend. (Don't worry, Matt. I won't tell anyone I knew you were secretly a Steelers fan a looong time ago.) This Sunday, they have:

Weekend roundup 1/9

There's a lot going on in 2009, and this weekend is no exception. I haven't yet decided on my plans, but they will likely include a movie, yoga or pilates and watching the Steelers in the Playoffs this Sunday. Here's the scoop for around town:

• The Hershey Story opens tonight. Be sure to check out this modern, interactive museum completely with in-house coffeeshop, Cafe Zooka, and the hands-on Chocolate Lab. 
• After the museum, stop in a see Pat Cusick performing live at Fenicci's. 
• Milk opens tonight at Midtown Cinema - first theater in the area to host this film.
  
• Art House Lounge celebrates its one-year anniversary this Saturday from 6-9 p.m.
• You got the e-mails about sending young Hannah Garman Christmas cards (and it wasn't a hoax). Now, help support her cause by attending a benefit concert tomorrow night at Bube's Brewery.
• Harrisburg's first BarCamp kicks off tomorrow a.m. This free, unconference will focus on web design, development and online social media relevant to central PA. For more on what BarCamps are, click here. 
• Don't forget tomorrow also kicks off FARM SHOW WEEK.
  
• Playoffs weekend means beer and wings specials - plus prize giveaways every quarter - at Legends.

Weekend roundup 7/18/08

After a month-plus hiatus, the Weekend roundup is back due to popular demand! (Well, the demand of one, but still.) I'm going antiquing this weekend. I know, I haven't been around in ages. But that's why I supply this list of things to do ... even when I'm out of town. Viva Harrisburg!

• So up my alley - Legends is hosting a Wii Bowling Tournament from 8 p.m. to midnight tonight and tomorrow!
• Side Street Cinema hosts Forbidden Planet Saturday night at 9 p.m. Don't forget a chair!
• Dude. The Dark Knight is at Whitaker Center's IMAX theater. Worth the cash, I think.
• Sunday is the first-ever Downtown Comi-Con. Noon to 6 p.m. at The Cathedral Room at the Maennerchor.
